This french press brews about two standard size mugs of coffee. The directions are written for smaller cups, so adjust accordingly. The brewing top doesn't seal off completely with a traditional slide feature, but it has a spill resistant design. The trade-off for the stable base is that it doesn't fit auto cup holders. The "presser" contains a screen material, and the drink-through lid has an additional screen that blocks any stray grounds or leaves. The brew-and-drink-from-the-same-cup French Press Mug-Boot Cut, is easy to use, makes great coffee, and is the first french press coffee maker I have used that hasn't treated me to a few coffee grounds or tea leaves mixed in with my beverage. The mug itself is high quality, and its wide base (the boot cut) keeps the mug from tipping over easily. The mug ships with a second travel top that does close--a dubious bonus for coffee brewed in the mug, since removing the brew-top takes away the two screen features that keep the grounds away--but could be useful for soups or other liquids that need to stay hot.
The boot cut shape makes it very stable. I had hoped it would press the grounds and leave all the rest of the liquid to drink. I bought this for work so I didn't have to make so many trips to the kitchen making Teeccinos. I am disappointed that I lose so much coffee at the bottom. It definitely keeps your beverage HOT for hours.
I highly recommend this product. Additionally, it is insulated so your coffee stays super hot. The mug has two screens and so there are never any grinds at all. The mug has a large heavy base so the only negative is that it will not fit in traditional size mug holders; but it is weighted. I have been using this mug now for two months every day. It is perfect. The mug is very easy to hand wash.
Since it certainly won't fit into my car's cupholder, I'm using the seat belt idea that I gleaned from another review. Thanks to everyone who reviewed this product - your comments were a really big help in my decision. It presses down securely and once down it won't turn at all. I have to say I've had no problems with the lid at all. I read the reviews carefully before ordering and finally selected the Boot Cut Mug in Green Tea. I'm impressed with this french press mug. Probably the area I was most concerned about was the mug's seal, since the travel french press I used previously (an all-plastic model) had a screw top lid and this one has a press down lid. The most amazing thing is how long it keeps my coffee hot - I'm actually still adjusting to hot coffee after two hours, something that was not possible with my previous model.
as the coffee has been covered. The base is too big to fit into conventional cup holders. If you are reading this and do not yet know about French presses read this. But, near boiled kettle water is fine. I now have two of these.
I simply put in sweetner, cream and 2 scoops of freshly ground coffee, and the water comes from my insta-hot. After that you don't have to dump it. Just pour the leftover into a glass with ice and you've got iced coffee. I also brought it out the the car, where it was stable on the floor next to the driver. Very well made, this is perfect for those who'd like more than one cup of insulated press coffee, and without having to use a separate cup.
Its warm for about 2-3 hours. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_pressThe French Press with fresh water and fresh coffee makes terrific coffee.
